Reminder: Hurricane Dorian make-up days are November 25-26
Posted 11/19/19

Schools will be open on November 25-26, to make up the two days (Sept. 4-5) the school district was closed due to Hurricane Dorian. Superintendent Charles Wilson announced on September 4, that the school district would use these two make-up days.  These days were identified as make up days when the 2019-2020 school calendar was released to employees, parents, and students in January 2018.

Because school closures due to weather events are more common, the school district begun to identify make-up days in its school calendars as a courtesy notice to families. Always take note of these days and be prepared for them to be activated. Four make-up days are identified each school year - two in the first semester and two in the second semester. The make-up days are purposefully selected to be days near the end of the semesters so as not to risk a weather event happening after a make-up day and thus losing the opportunity to recover instructional days.

While school attendance is always a parent decision, all school attendance policies apply to these days. When your child is absent from school, please remember to submit either a parent note or doctor's excuse to your child's school when your student returns to school.
