Statesboro High receives two Advanced Placement Honor School awards from state
Georgia honors school in two Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics categories
Statesboro High School has been named an Advanced Placement (AP) Honor School in two categories: AP STEM School and AP STEM Achievement School. The recognition was announced in February by State School Superintendent Richard Woods as part of Georgia’s 2025 AP Honor Schools list.
“Georgia's 2025 AP Honor Schools exemplify our commitment to providing students with rigorous, high-quality educational opportunities that prepare them for success beyond high school,” Woods said. “I commend these schools for their dedication to academic excellence and equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in college, careers, and life.”
Statesboro High School earned the AP STEM School designation for administering at least five AP exams in four separate STEM courses, including math, science, and computer science. The school also qualified as an AP STEM Achievement School by ensuring at least 50% of all AP STEM exams received scores of 3 or higher.
In addition to these honors, Statesboro High School offers the most in-person Advanced Placement courses of any public or private high school in Bulloch County. The school provides 12 AP courses:
- AP English Language & Composition
- AP Pre-Calculus
- AP Calculus
- AP Statistics
- AP Environmental Science
- AP Chemistry
- AP Biology
- AP Microeconomics
- AP Government
- AP US History
- AP Studio Art: 2D Design
- AP Studio Art: 3D Design
Superintendent Woods recognized 301 AP Honor Schools from 104 school districts statewide. The AP Honor Schools program, initiated in 2008 by the Georgia Department of Education, highlights schools that demonstrate outstanding performance in various AP course categories.
AP courses, administered by the College Board, provide high school students with access to college-level learning. Students who score a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam may receive college credit.
In addition to the STEM categories, AP Honor Schools were named in six other categories, including AP Access and Support Schools, AP Challenge Schools, AP Expansion Schools, AP Humanities Schools, AP Humanities Achievement Schools, and AP Schools of Distinction.
