Research Request Protocol
Bulloch County Schools recognizes that systematic study of the educational process can contribute significantly to the development and implementation of high-quality instructional programs. While recognizing the value of educational research, the district also has a responsibility to protect students, parents, and staff from invasion of privacy and substantial distraction from teaching and learning.
In order for a research proposal to be approved, the proposed research must:
- benefit students

submit an Institutional Review Board (IRB) application/approval documents for the research study

submit all applicable documents for the research study. Examples:

consent forms,
-
survey questions,
-
interview questions,
-
focus group questions,
-
required protocols,
-
pre/post assessment, and/or
-
observation tools;

ensure minimal disruption to classroom instruction and/or teacher planning time,
-
assure privacy for students, parents, and staff,
-
support other Bulloch County Schools initiatives,
-
align with the district’s Strategic Plan and/or the school’s School Improvement Plan (SIP) posted on each school's website
-
align with state/county curriculum.
Submission Windows:
Fall Semester Window:

Research applications for Fall Semester must be completed and submitted during this window.

July 15 to September 15
Spring Semester Window:
-
Research applications for Spring Semester must be completed and submitted during this window.

November 15th - December 5th; January 2nd - February 15th
Jeff Giddens (email) from the school district's School Improvement Department, handles all research requests for the district. If you are interested in conducting research in the district, please supply the information requested by the Bulloch County Schools Research Request Application form and submit your responses. Please submit your request before calling. Jeff Giddens will contact you afterwards.
The Bulloch County Schools Research Request Team will review and respond within 2 weeks to all applications submitted within the designated submission windows.
