Summer Camps & Learning

Bulloch County Schools' high schools and several community organizations have quality academic, vocational skills, fine arts, and athletic camps plus reading and literacy-building activities for children and teens this summer. Please remember that these camps are learning and enrichment opportunities, they are not childcare. For those seeking childcare, we have listed Bulloch County Recreation & Park's full-day summer camps which provide childcare. Check out these offerings throughout the summer as new events are added.

Bulloch County Recreation & Parks Summer Day Camps

Statesboro YMCA

The Statesboro YMCA had two full-day camps this summer: Pioneers for children ages 5 to 7 and Explorers for children 8 to 12. They offer income-based assistance and scholarships to help make childcare more accessible and affordable for families during the school year and for summer camps. They also accept the centralized account processing system (CAPS) form of payment instead of checks or cash if needed. Be sure to look for camps at the Statesboro location as their website lists all of Coastal Georgia YMCA's camps.

Academic Camps

WIllow Hill Techie Camp

Digital Humanities Camp

The Georgia Southern University Writing Center in collaboration with faculty from the Department of English, the University Library and the College of Education will offer a free week-long summer camp, introducing high school students to digital humanities in the field of English studies. Students will explore digital resources related to historical English, Southern English, creative writing and AI literacy. This program is funded in part by a Georgia Humanities grant.

Ages: Rising high school freshmen through rising seniors.
Date: July 6 through July 10
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m.

Engineering & Computing Camp

Georgia Southern University’s Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering & Computing will host an Engineering & Computing Camp. This immersive summer program is designed for rising tenth through twelfth-grade students.

Mercer University's Virtual Med Camp

Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Camp

Get ready for a summer of creativity, exploration, and hands-on learning! Georgia Southern University's Virtual Collaboration Center has multiple summer camps which offer exciting opportunities for students.

This is a hands-on, challenge-based experience where students dive into a new project each day. Every morning, campers are given a real-world task or problem to solve and by the end of the day, they’ll have designed, built, or tested their own solution.

From creative engineering builds to problem-solving challenges, students will strengthen critical thinking, teamwork, and innovation skills in a fun and supportive environment. It’s the perfect camp for curious minds who love to build, experiment, and figure out how things work.

Fine Arts Camps

Summer Theater Camp

Statesboro High School's Drama Department will host Summer Theater Camps for rising Kindergarten students through rising eighth-grade students. The camps are divided into grade categories K to 2, 3 to 5, and 6 to 8. Informattion about each camp is provided in the link below.

Dates: June 22 to June 26
Time: 9 a.m. to 12 noon daily

Averitt Center for the Arts Summer Camps

M.U.S.E.C Camp

Music Unlocks Social and Emotional Creativity is a musical fine arts camp by music instructor and performer Tasheina Canty-White. Utilizing music at its core, this camp will seek to provide a safe space for adolescents to explore creativity and express their emotions, equipping them with tools to build healthy relationships. There will be ukuleles, hand-drumming, keyboards, and more. Snacks and lunch will be served daily.

Date: June 15 through June 19

Time: 8 a.m. to 12 noon

Ages: Children ages 10 to 14

Double the Art Camp

The Double the Art Camp, is hosted by two educators who have a combined 24 years of teaching experience. Participants will complete four unique art projects using different mediums. We'll experiment with watercolors; design and create, and learn a variety of painting techniques and artistic skills.

On the last day of camp (Friday), at 11:30 a.m., we will host a finale Art Showcase to display and share our campers' creations.

Gaming & Esports Camps

Get ready for a summer of creativity, exploration, and hands-on learning! Georgia Southern University's Virtual Collaboration Center has multiple summer camps for students to dive into Minecraft world-building, role-play and storytelling, esports, tech skills, and more. Wrestling Camp (Statesboro)

Statesboro High School will host a wrestling camp this summer for any children ages 5 to 13.

Date: July 14, 15, & 16
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon
Cost: $90;
- Pay by check payable to SHS Wrestling Boosters, Attention: Allison Carroll, 10 Coach Lee Hill Blvd., Statesboro, Georgia 30458; or
- Pay by cash or check on the first day of camp
Ammenities: Free t-shirt; and lunch served each day
Camp Reminders:
- Bring a water bottle each day for camp. Drinks will be provided for lunch.
- If your child has food allergies, please note them on your registration form and please send them a safe snack each day.

Wrestling Camp (Brooklet)

Southeast Bulloch High School will host a wrestling camp for any children ages 5 to 12. All skill levels are welcome. It will be led by the school's wrestling coaches.

Participants should wear comfortable athletic clothes and shoes. Wrestling shoes, headgear, and sweapants are encouraged. Bring your own water bottle. If you wear braces, you must have a mouth guard.

Date: June 16 & 17

Time: 9 a.m. to 12 noon

Location: Southeast Bulloch High Gym

Cost: $50. Payments can be mailed to Southeast Bulloch High, Attention: Coach Civalier, 9184 Brooklet Denmark Rd., Brooklet, Georgia 30415.

You may also register online, and then bring your payment to camp.

You may pay by cash or check made payable to Southeast Bulloch Wrestling. If you are paying by credit card, it can be paid on the first day of camp.

Walk up registrations on the first day of camp are welcome.

All Sports Camp

Statesboro High School's athletes and coaches will host an All Sports Camp for any rising 2nd through 7th grade student.The camp will give participans an opportunity to explore eight different sports; Football/Flag football, Softball/baseball, soccer, track and field, tennis, golf, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, and air riflery and possibly esports. The last day of camp will feature a celebration day and recognition ceremony. Campers will need to provide their own lunch and water bottles

Ages: Rising 2nd through rising 7th grade sudens

When: Monday, June 1 to June 4

Time: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; 9 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, June 4.

Cost: $100 per camper. Checks should be made out to Statesboro High School.

Junior Jacket Cheerleading Camp

Southeast Bulloch High School Cheerleading will host its annual Junior Jacket Cheer Camp.

July 8 to July 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $75 if registered by June 19; Price increases to $100 after this date

Little Blue Devils Cheerleading Camp

Join the Statesboro High School Cheerleaders for a four-day summer camp packed with cheers, chants, stunts, dances, jumps and crafts. Participants who are registered by May 22 are guaranteed a camp t-shirt.

Ages: Girls who are four years old by June 1, through rising eighth-grade girls.

When: June 15 through June 18

Time: 9 a.m. to 12 noon

Location: Statesboro High School's Lee Hill Arena (Varsity Gym)

Cost: $80 per child. Cost increases to $100 if you register after May 22.

Reading Events

Statesboro Regional Library Summer Reading Program

Bulloch County Literacy Council Reading Nooks

The Bulloch County Literacy Council has partnered with local businesses to place more than 50 reading nooks for children inside their businesses. Each offers a safe, cozy space where children can enjoy a book and select a book to take home and keep. It's a great way to encourage children to read, especially while you are out and about in the community and a way to help build home libraries. See a list of the Reading Nooks here.

Bulloch County Literacy Council Sharing Libraries

The Bulloch County Literacy Council and Bulloch County Schools have further increased access to books for Bulloch County children. Seven newspaper boxes have been converted into sharing libraries for children and an extension of the Bulloch County Schools' Book Bus across the county. This is where you can find a Sharing Library and your child may pick out a book to take home.
