Specialized Intervention & Support Programs

Bulloch County Schools provides gifted services for students in grades 2 through 12. The windows to nominate students for gifted services in elementary and middle grades are the following:

• Spring 2026: January 2 through January 21. Any students in grades 1 to 8 may be nominated for services during this period.
• Fall 2026: August 3 through August 24. The fall nomination and testing window is only for students who are new to the school district.

Teachers, parents, guardians, students, or peers may nominate students for consideration for gifted services during an open nomination window only. Nominations are accepted one of two ways:

• Submit a nomination to the Gifted Services Facilitator at the student's elementary or middle school; or
• Submit a nomination online.  Online submission is only available during a nomination window.
• The annual fall nomination  and testing window is only for students who are new to the school district

• After the nomination window closes, each school’s eligibility team will review student data to determine whether a formal evaluation for gifted services is appropriate.
• A nomination does not guarantee a formal evaluation. Gifted services are based on demonstrated need, and the review team must determine if sufficient evidence exists to proceed with testing.
• Parents or guardians will be notified of the committee’s decision once the review is complete. They will receive a Permission to Test Form to sign and return to their child's school. This form is required before testing can begin.
• Testing will begin after teams have taken time for the data review and the receipt of a Permission to Test Form by the gifted teacher at the child's home school. 
• Students who qualify through fall testing will begin gifted services in January; those who qualify through spring testing will begin services in August.

Bulloch County Schools is a Georgia Pre-Kindergarten partner. Overseen by Bright from the Start, Georgia's Department for Early Care and Learning, these lottery-funded educational programs help prepare children for Kindergarten using state-approved Pre-k Standards and curriculum. Learn more here.

The State Board of Education adopted adopt a list of Qualified Dyslexia Screening Tools​ in 2023. These Qualified Dyslexia Screening Tools are used by school districts for the identification and referral of students with characteristics of dyslexia.​​
