Bus Driver Qualifications
Qualifications: These are the qualifications to be a school bus driver:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid regular Georgia Driver's License
- Must have no more than five points on motor driving record
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License B-Permit with Endorsements:
- If you do not have a commercial driver's license
- Read and study the Commercial Driver's Manual
- Take our Transportation Department's online Commercial Driver's License Pre-Test Study Course
- Schedule an appointment with the Georgia Department of Driver Services to take the Commercial Drivers' License Test. Applicants who intend to drive a school bus for a public school system, may present a signed and notarized Form DDS-1233 to waive the $35 application fee.
- The additional tests are the Road test ($50), license fees ($20), and endorsement fees ($5 each). These must be paid by you, the driver.
- Take and pass the Georgia Department of Driver Services' commercial driver's license test.
- If you do not have a commercial driver's license
