Walking Your Child Into School & Visitor/Volunteer Protocols

A frequently asked question that we receive is, "May I walk my child into school?"

  • For elementary schools, parents or guardians may walk their child or children to their classroom(s) during the first two weeks of each new school year.  After that they may walk their child to the school entrance/foyer only, but not to their classrooms.
  • For middle and high schools, parents are not allowed to walk students to class. Students are encouraged to be independent.
  • A parent or guardian who wishes to meet a teacher, may ask the school's office to help make an appointment.
  • Each school will determine what measures need to be implemented for special events that take place during the day to ensure there is sufficient intentional monitoring. Visitors will still be required to sign in at the main office.
  • All guests must comply with Bulloch County Schools' safety protocols for visitors and volunteers

Visit our Visitors & Volunteers webpage to learn more about being a volunteer.

School Supplies

  • Elementary and middle schools post suggested school supply lists  via their Facebook pages and websites. They will also be available from your teacher at Open House and your first day of school.
  • High schools do not issue school supply lists because supplies are course specific. High school students will receive information about any needed supplies when they visit their teachers at Open House or on the first day of school.
  • Some schools post their lists on Teacher Lists as a convenience for online shopping. Find your school's supply list on Teacher List
  • Various faith-based and civic organizations host back-to-school events at which they make school supplies available to children in need.
  • If you need assistance, speak with a school social worker or school counselor.

Attendance Matters

Strive for five or fewer absences

Regular school attendance is important for your child to be successful in school. Please take time to review the school district's attendance expectations.

The health of students, faculty and staff can impact school attendance. Learn more about how you can help slow the spread of illnesses and conduct daily health self-checks with your family.

Student Handbook & Behavior and Dress Expectations

Student Handbook

Please ensure that you are familiar with the Bulloch County Schools Student Handbook. It also includes the school system's Code of Conduct, which governs how we expect all students to conduct themselves.

Students are expected to behave in a way that facilitates an effective, safe, and positive learning environment. This includes our classrooms, school buses, and school events. With input from our school administrators and superintendent of schools, the Board of Education has thoroughly reviewed the Code of Conduct and its recommended consequences for violations of the code. Students, parents, and school personnel are expected to know and understand these behavior expectations and their consequences.

  • Review the 2025/2026 Code of Conduct
  • Review the directory of incident types and be aware of those that require a mandatory report to law enforcement.
  • Review changes to this year's Code of Conduct include which include updates to the following sections:
    • (05) Computer Trespass

Dress Code

Good grooming and personal appearance are essential elements to learning and the learning environment.
