Parent & Family Engagement

Parent and Family Engagement is an ongoing process to increase active participation, communication, and collaboration between parents families, schools, and the community. The goal is to educate the whole child to ensure student achievement and success. When schools and families support each other, we can create meaningful partnerships that can result in students of all backgrounds and abilities achieving at higher levels.

Bulloch County Schools works to continually improve how we engage with parents, families and the community. The Family Engagement Program believes parents, guardians, schools, families, and communities who work together can create meaningful partnerships that ultimately lead to significant gains across the board in student achievement.

Parents' Right to Know

In compliance with the requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act , parents may request the following information:

  • Whether their child's teacher has met state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.
  • Whether their child's teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.
  • Whether their child's teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher.
  • Whether their child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

If you wish to request information about a teacher's or a paraprofessional's qualifications, please contact the principal at your child's school.

Parents and guardians have a right to be involved in the planning and implementation of the Family Engagement Program at their child's school. Family Engagement Plan

In support of strengthening the academic achievement of students, Bulloch County Schools has developed a family engagement plan that establishes the district's expectations and objectives for meaningful family engagement and guides the strategies and resources that strengthen school and parent partnerships in the district's Title I schools.

This plan describes Bulloch County Schools' commitment to engage families and build capacity in our Title I schools in order to improve academic achievement. When schools, families, and communities work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school, stay in school longer and enjoy school more. You may review the plan here.

Annual Title I Meeting & Annual Parent Survey

Thirteen of our fifteen schools are Title I schools.  All Title I schools conduct an annual parent survey and an annual Title I meeting. Learn more about those here.  Southeast Bulloch High School and Statesboro High School are not Title I schools.

Family Resource Centers

Each of our elementary and middle schools is equipped with a parent resource center.  They are open during the school day, and a family engagement specialist or other school staff member can assist you with the resources you need. The centers offer the following materials: educational manipulatives, educational games, flash cards, workbooks, books to assist your child in reading, math and other content areas, parenting books, and more.

Family Workshops

Bulloch County Schools periodically hosts workshops for families. These are designed to provide families with information they can use to help children achieve academic success. These workshops take place in the schools as well as in community centers throughout the county. Check with your school for upcoming family events and workshops.
