6th Annual Reading Nook Photo Contest: Enter & Vote

The Bulloch County Literacy Council's 6th Annual Reading Nook Photo Contest is open online Feb. 1 through Feb. 28, 2026. Sponsored by Kid’s World Learning Center, the City of Statesboro. and the Statesboro Herald, the contest celebrates and encourages the joy of families reading together and supports preschool literacy.
- Find a cozy reading nook, get a book, & read to a child
- Snap a photo of you reading at home, at the library, or visit one of our community's more than 50 reading nooks around town, where you can even take a book home to keep.
- Upload your photo to either the Home or Business category
- Vote and encourage others to do the same.
- Contest winners will be announced live during the Literacy Council's annual Literacy Luau and in local media.
Literacy Luau: Save the Date
The Bulloch County Literacy Council will host its annual Literacy Luau on Tuesday, March 10. Families are invited to attend this free event from 5:30 to 7 p.m., under the Anthony P. Tippins Training Center, located at 207 Lanier Drive, in Statesboro, adjacent to Allen E. Paulson Stadium. Come enjoy kids' activities, food, and fun.
Who We Are
The Bulloch County Literacy Council is a collaborative group of educators, representatives from literacy organizations, business and civic organization leaders, and community volunteers. Its purpose is to sustain a community collaborative that works to increase Kindergarten readiness for students from birth through Pre-Kindergarten and to support the improvement of literacy levels for all children in Kindergarten through fifth grade.
The Literacy Council's Bulloch READ initiative:
- Reading: Encourage the creation of Reading nooks.
- Environment: Encourage a literacy-rich Environment.
- Access: Increase Access to book and reading resources.
- Development: Increase early brain Development.
