Transportation Services

The Bulloch County Board of Education Transportation Department provides approximately 4,900 students with service to and from 16 schools. The mission of the Transportation Department is to safely transport students to school each morning in a frame of mind ready to learn and then return them home safely each afternoon.

Bus stops are assigned through a software program to the nearest practical route. Stops are designated by the Transportation Department and are placed at specific locations based on the distance to the next stop and safety of the location. The bus driver can not change the location of the stop. Any changes to the location of the stop or requests for a stop to be added must go through the Transportation Department first. Bus service for students with special needs is provided according to their Individual Education Plan (IEP). No out-of-zone transportation is provided for any reason.

Bulloch County Schools' Transportation Department is seeking bus drivers for the 2016-17 school year which begins August 1. Interested applicants should apply at the Transportation Department's offices at 219 Simons Road in Statesboro.

The school system regularly trains applicants and its existing driving force. The following upcoming classes are being offered for interested applicants: CDL Prep Class, May 25 - 27, 9 a.m. - 12 noon; and Bus Training Class, June 6-10, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 pm.

Contact the Bulloch County Schools Transportation Department at 912-212-8645 for more information.

First LadyGeorgia First Lady Sandra Deal made a stop at Langston Chapel Elementary School Tuesday morning as part of a statewide tour to launch the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety’s (GOHS) “Stop Means Stop” Bus Safety Program.   “We train drivers, and we train students, but we must train the public about bus safety too,” the First Lady said.

She’s referring to the alarming level of Georgia motorists who are violating traffic laws regarding stopped school buses.  Students are safe on the bus, but are vulnerable when entering and exiting the bus.
