Portal seeks Hall of Fame nominations now through Dec. 7

Community asked to help recognize alumni & citizens


Portal Hall of Fame signPortal is seeking nominations now through Dec. 7, for possible inductees into the Portal High School Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame recognizes alumni of PMHS and Willow Hill who have distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, and/or extra-curricular or civic activities, and who continue to be positive role models today for youth.  The 2019 PMHS Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is Friday, Feb. 1, in Portal. A nomination form is attached, and for more information, contact Jennifer Yates at jmotesyates@bullochschools.org.


Potential candidates for 2019, should be from the Class of 1980 and earlier.  Nominees for the Hall of Fame’s 2020 inductees should be from the Class of 2000 and prior years, and for the 2021 cohort, nominees should be a graduate for at least 10 years.


The Hall of Fame also seeks nominations for honorary members.  These are teachers, coaches and others who served at either of the two schools and directly influenced children and impacted their educational and/or athletic development. These individuals

will be inducted as honorary members into the Hall of Fame.


Areas to consider for nominees: (1) good citizenship in high school; (2) high school academic and/or athletic awards; school or state records and recognitions; (3) accomplishments after high school and/or college; (4) contributions to the community; and (5) leadership and character.


2019 will be the second cohort of inductees.  Previous inductees are Arnold Ray Akins, Joe Brannen, Bill Brown, Jerry Brown, Denver Lanier, and Johnnie E. Motes, Sr.
