Behavior Analysis

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science of applying experimentally derived principles of behavior to improve socially significant behavior.  Conceptually ABA is based upon the assumption that environments and events can be manipulated to have a beneficial impact upon an individual’s behavior.  ABA utilizes functional assessment and functional analysis information, a process of understanding physiological and environmental factors, to develop methods of improving behavior.

Behavior Analysts

Samantha DiGregorio is a behavior analyst with Bulloch County Schools. Born and raised in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Sam attended Western Michigan University double majoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice. After graduation in 2006, she went on to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology located in Chicago, Illinois. After years of big city living, Sam is excited to begin her career here in Bulloch County and is looking forward to working with all the great students, faculty, and parents. In her spare time, Samantha enjoys anything that has to do with cheerleading, spending time with her Delta Zeta sorority sisters, traveling, being outdoors, and reading.

Functional Behavioral Assessment:  This is a process of determining physiological and environmental factors that have an influence upon the behavior.  This information will maximize the efficiency or our interventions. … Please contact your assigned Behavior Analyst to view or use the assessment forms.

Functional Analysis:  This is a detailed and scientific based method of determining how the environment affects the student and how the student affects the environment. A functional analysis will provide information regarding the function of a behavior, i.e. what maintains that behavior. Students exhibit specific behavior to ‘obtain desired events’ or to ‘escape or avoid undesirable events’.

Program writing (Behavior Intervention Plan):  The Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is a step by step approach to minimizing problem behavior by teaching functionally equivalent appropriate behavior.  The Bulloch County Schools Behavior Analysts will work in coordination with teachers and staff to develop individualized BIP’s.

Data Sheet Design:  As a method to establish baselines and to determine the effectiveness of interventions accurate data collection is critical.  Not sure what forms to use, how to collect the data, or you just need assistance collecting data?

Contact your assigned Behavior Analyst for available data collection forms.

Data Display and Interpretation:  Got data?  Need assistance interpreting, setting goals, developing interventions.
