Bulloch County Schools is excited to announce a new collaborative partnership with Ogeechee Technical College. The First Annual OTC Business & Industry Showcase will be held on October 31 and November 1, for ninth-grade students, who have their parent complete and return a Bulloch County Schools permission form. The purpose of this event is to increase awareness of the various jobs and careers available within this region in the areas of healthcare, public safety, manufacturing, and construction.

The following information has been provided by Kathleen Kosmoski, Director for Continuing Education and Industry Training at OTC, and describes the purpose and
plans for this event:

  • Fifteen to twenty local businesses and industries will be participating and showcasing their companies including their related careers and professions. Students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities that represent the various jobs available in these career fields. Examples of these activities:
  1. Fingerprinting and investigating a crime scene
  2. Assembling mechanical bearings
  3. Bending conduit to specific angles
  4. Maneuvering a robotic arm
  5. Performing CPR
  6. Examining X-rays and identifying body parts on the X-ray
  • While visiting with the companies, students will converse with company representatives and learn about the great careers that are available here in Bulloch County and the surrounding region.
