2nd Annual Reggie Dawson Memorial Math Tournament
Audience: Homepage
Posted by: Hayley Greene.
Location: Julia P. Bryant Elementary School Contact: 212-8680
Start Time: 8:00 AM End Time: 12:00 PM

The Reggie Dawson Memorial Math Tournament is a competition for third or fourth grade students. The free event is open to students from any public, private or home school in Bulloch County.

The event tests students' individual computation and team ciphering skills, and makes academics a spectator sport for the crowds of parents, family and teachers that gather.

It was organized by JPBES math teacher Estella Newkirt, and is currently funded by grants from the Bulloch County Foundation for Public Education.  Organizers are seeking a corporate sponsor for future tournaments.

The competition is named for a former Statesboro High School educator whose life and career were cut tragically short when he lost his battle with cancer in 2010.

Currently more than 100 students from Sally Zetterower, Brooklet, Mill Creek, and Julia P. Bryant Elementary Schools are registered to compete.

If you are interested in competing, contact Julia P. Bryant Elementary or email Estella Newkirt at enewkirt@bulloch.k12.ga.us.
