Statesboro High "Scrooge" Public Performance
Audience: Homepage
Posted by: Hayley Greene.
Location: Statesboro High School Fine Arts Auditorium Contact: 212-8860
Start Time: 3:00 PM End Time: 5:00 PM

Statesboro High’s Fine Arts Department will present its annual student matinee and public performances of the musical “Scrooge,” based on the Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol, this December in the school’s Fine Arts Auditorium.  The cast’s matinee for pre-kindergarten through middle school students is Friday, December 14, 9:00 a.m., and the public performances are Saturday, December 15, 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 16 at 3:00 p.m. The 90-minute show with a five-minute intermission retells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, and how Christmas spirits show him the true meaning of the season.

The matinee is a learning experience specifically designed for students in area daycare centers, preschools, and elementary and middle schools. SHS’s Fine Arts Department will make academic Internet links and activity suggestions available to help teachers reinforce the visual experience of this literary work in their classrooms. For the youngest preschool and elementary students, the auditorium provides excellent seating and visibility, and organizers are reserving seats up front for these age groups.

Student matinee admission is $1.00 for each student or parent volunteer, and teachers and bus drivers are free. If you plan to bring students to the show, please email SHS Drama Teacher Eddie Frazier at dfrazier@bulloch.k12.ga.us  or SHS Choral director Lisa Muldrew at lmuldrew@bulloch.k12.ga.usprior to the show for reservations as last year’s performance sold out.  Public performances Saturday and Sunday are general admission and all tickets are $5. These tickets will be sold at the door at the time of the performances.
